The Anesthesia Technician assists in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia, ensuring equipment readiness and cleanliness. They operate specialized equipment like the cell-saver, troubleshoot technical issues, and support the anesthesia team in various surgical cases. Additionally, they contribute to staff training and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia, including equipment preparation and monitoring.
- Operate the cell-saver machine and manage related lab reports.
- Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and preventive maintenance is completed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs.
- Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting.
- Set up rooms between cases and ensure full service setup at the end of the day.
- Provide backup to the shift supervisor as needed.
- Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day.
- Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters.
- Work directly with service-specific faculty Division Chief of designated specialty.
- Provide on-call coverage.
- Assist the Chief Anesthesia Technologist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs.
- Assist in training of staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.
- Work with other hospital units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment.
- Perform set-up and support of ectopic procedures for anesthesia care ensuring proper equipment is in place for out-of-OR procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Chief Anesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
- Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Four-year college education with related technical training, or a two-year college education with technical training closely related to the position and two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification by the registry of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized professional certifying body.
Special Considerations:
- Holidays, weekends, on-call, and call-back duties as needed.
Scheduling:
- Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
