  • The BenOps Analyst is a member of the Benefits team within the People organization and will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate posting of payroll deductions for 100,000+ team members enrolled in various American Airlines domestic and Canadian benefit plans. This role will actively interface with Payroll, Payroll IT, Benefits Delivery/Administration, Benefits Audit & Controls, and AA’s external benefits administrator or other vendors to support operational excellence and delivery of positive team member experience as it relates to benefits payroll deductions.

     

What you'll do

  • Review benefits related deduction preview files for accuracy
  • Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies through collaboration with the benefits administrator and Payroll to ensure accurate application of deductions to team member paychecks
  • Review benefits related payroll production files and approve payroll processing for benefits deductions
  • Review and resolve payroll deduction issues; identify and request appropriate adjustments, manual check or special payments as they relate to team member benefits
  • Support testing for payroll or HRIS system changes as they impact benefit deductions
  • Validate annual enrollment vendor files, year-end payroll deductions, and new plan year benefit deductions to ensure accurate application of updated premium rates
  • Identify, recommend, and help implement process improvements to payroll validation process
  • Represent the Benefits department during events at various locations such as Annual Enrollment meetings, testing, and benefits roadshows (travel may be required)
  • Produce ad-hoc reporting and/or participate in special projects, as needed, to support company and department initiatives
  • Must be willing to work some late nights and weekends to support the payroll calendar or other deliverables

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 3 years minimum Benefits and/or Payroll experience 

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Prior payroll and HRIS systems support experience with strong user skills to support multiple benefits programs within the payroll, HR, and benefits systems
  • Strong working knowledge of benefit plans
  • Proven intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage large volumes of data
  • Prior experience with vendor, payroll, or systems interface files
  • Must have strong working knowledge of other Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of MS Access beneficial
  • Familiarity with interpreting and practically applying labor agreement requirements in a payroll, HRIS, or benefits system or process a plus
  • Prior experience with HEC, SuccessFactors/Employee Central, and Alight a plus

  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate, as well as work independently
  • Must meet strict deadlines, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing, and complex benefits and payroll environment
  • Self-motivated individual with the passion and desire to obtain additional knowledge and experience across multiple areas of the organization
