ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:

The Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF), a non-profit 501(c)(4) social welfare organization based in Norcross, Georgia, is seeking an Organizing Manager to support, coordinate, and execute comprehensive organizing programs. The selected candidate will report to the Program Director and play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of voter contact initiatives.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Organizing Manager at the Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF) coordinates, manages, and executes comprehensive organizing programs to build an engaged and empowered base of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in Georgia. Recognizing that AAPIs are the fastest-growing ethnic population in the state, this role plays a critical part in building long-term community power and shaping Georgia’s future.

The Organizing Manager will collaborate closely with AAAF staff to engage and mobilize Georgia’s diverse AAPI communities around issue-based campaigns, legislative advocacy at the local and state levels, and electoral programs. The Organizing Manager will directly manage two full-time community organizers, cultivate relationships with community leaders, labor organizations, faith institutions, and other partner organizations, and serve as a vital bridge between AAAF’s advocacy work and the communities we aim to serve and organize.

Responsibilities: 

1. Movement and Community Building (45%): 

The Organizing Manager will be deeply rooted in community — showing up consistently, building trust, and ensuring our organizing work reflects the real needs and aspirations of our members. This person will lead the relaunch of AAAF’s base-building work, reimagining how we engage our communities and connect our grassroots issue, legislative, and electoral campaigns back to the people most impacted.

• Build and grow AAAF’s base of community members, volunteers, and supporters across Georgia’s AAPI communities through direct outreach and relationship-building.
• Develop and manage a membership program and leadership development pathways to strengthen long-term power.
• Lead ethnic- and faith-based grassroots organizing strategies to foster deeper engagement across AAPI and interfaith communities.
• Build and steward direct relationships with community leaders, faith institutions, coalition partners, and member leaders to ensure organizers are well-connected and positioned to meet their goals.
• Consistently attend and represent AAAF at community events, partner meetings, faith gatherings, and organizing spaces to build visibility, influence, and alignment, while serving as the internal lead on grasstops relationships. 
• Mobilize core members for AAAF’s issue-based, legislative, and electoral campaigns, ensuring they have ownership and leadership roles.

2. Campaign Strategy, Tactics, and Data (30%)

The Organizing Manager will connect organizing directly to strategy — ensuring every tactic and event strengthens community power, advances campaigns, and deepens leadership.

• Develop and implement issue-based and legislative campaign strategies in collaboration with the Program Director and Policy Team.
• Design and execute events, town halls, training sessions, canvasses, and rapid response actions tied to campaigns and organizing goals.
• Integrate organizing work with data tools (e.g., VAN, EveryAction) to track supporters, evaluate engagement, and inform decision-making.
• Collaborate with Communications to bring art, culture, and storytelling into organizing efforts to deepen narrative and emotional connection.
• Test and refine tactics based on lessons from the ground, ensuring that organizing strategies stay community-led and community-responsive.

3. Team Leadership and Collaboration (20%)

The Organizing Manager will serve as a hands-on leader and coach to two full-time community organizers, modeling strong community presence, relationship-building, and strategic organizing in practice.

• Directly manage and mentor two full-time community organizers, providing coaching, leadership development, and strategic guidance, while identifying new opportunities and co-creating programs.
• Establish clear expectations and cultivate a culture of transparency, collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability within the team.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of organizing staff.
• Ensure organizing work is well-integrated with Political, Communications, and broader program teams.

4. Organizational Leadership and Representation (5%)

The Organizing Manager will help ground AAAF’s organizational strategy in the realities of our communities, ensuring that organizing insights and leadership are centered in decision-making spaces.

• Serve as an active member of the Program Managers Team, contributing insights and leadership to integrated strategic planning.
• Represent AAAF at conferences, national strategy tables, philanthropic meetings, and public speaking engagements.
• Foster alignment between staff, leadership, and the communities we serve.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE ID EAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be first and foremost committed to the Asian American Advocacy Fund’s mission and vision. They are a seasoned organizer with proven experience managing teams, fostering both accountability and professional growth. They bring a strong background in leading issue-based campaigns within AAPI, AMEMSA, or immigrant communities, and excel in building lasting relationships with community partners and stakeholders. Deeply committed to immigrant justice and aligned with the values of the Asian American Advocacy Fund, they are an excellent communicator with sharp problem-solving, balance multiple priorities with ease, and are comfortable working independently, collaboratively, and across diverse groups.

Must Haves:

• Familiarity with the Georgia political landscape.
• Three to five years of organizing experience, with at least two years of staff management experience
• Demonstrated success in leading issue-based grassroots community organizing campaigns 
• Proven ability to supervise and develop team members while balancing accountability, and skill-building, with a strong commitment to self-care and team well-being
• Demonstrated success in organizing in AAPI or AMEMSA communities, or other immigrant spaces 
• Proven skills in relationship-building among community partners, and other stakeholders
• Commitment to immigrant justice, and the values of the Asian American Advocacy Fund 
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and well organized – able to multitask, meet deadlines and adapt to the changing political dynamics 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
• Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
• Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and coalitions
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and acute attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
• Familiarity with Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Chat, etc.)

Nice to Haves: 

• Experience working with 501(c)4 and independent political organizations is preferred but not required 
• Bilingual proficiency in an Asian language.
• Familiarity with the history, culture, and community dynamics of Georgia—particularly the metro Atlanta area—and a strong understanding of the broader Southern political context.

This position is a full-time, benefits-eligible role. 

Position Summary

Salary: $71,500 - $85,000, dependent on experience
