Assistant Professor of Kinesiology

Job Description Summary:

Kinesiology serves approximately 300 majors in programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels: Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with concentrations in Health and Human Performance ( HHP ), Athletic Training (AT), and Physical Education Teacher Education ( PETE ) as well as Master of Science in Athletic Training ( MSAT ).

Kinesiology is part of the College of Health and Community Well-Being, which has a holistic vision for health that goes beyond today’s traditional model and is informed by data and the impact of social determinants, health inequities, and cultural agility have on community and individual health. Through deep partnership with community health providers, non-profits, and others, we provide our students with meaningful clinical, internship, research, and other hands-on experiences critical to a quality education and student licensure requirements.

The University of La Verne invites applications for a faculty member with primary responsibility to the undergraduate Kinesiology program at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The appointment will begin with the 2025-26 academic year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate (or projected completion by August 15, 2025) in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field. Specialization is open to expertise in one or more of the following areas: research methods/statistics, biomechanics, physical activity and health, human performance, and motor behavior.
  • A clear and active research agenda, including publications and presentations.
  • The ability to teach two or more of the following undergraduate courses: Research Methods, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology Laboratory, Exercise Testing & Prescription, Fitness for Life, and Motor Behavior.
  • The ability to advise undergraduate Kinesiology majors.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • University teaching experience as the instructor of record.
  • Multiple peer-reviewed publications in professional journals.
  • Experience in grant writing or the potential for external funding.
  • University service experience.
