Our Client - A rapidly developing Bio-Pharma Manufacturing company urgently needs an Automation Engineer – Delta V for a permanent position at their plant in WA state. Excellent Salary + Annual Bonus + Relocation package + Full Benefit Pkg. The client will support TN 1 Visa but not H1 B visa transfers.

Relocation: YES – client offers a generous relocation package.

 

Compensation: Salary range $95K - $150K + Annual Bonus only for Level III (Target 10%) (See Note 3)

Our client is a developing company in the Pharmaceutical Industry. They are part of parent group of companies in business for 100+ years with 20+ Billion in Global sales.

This BioPharma division has locations globally (Japan, Denmark, Germany, Italy) with multiple plants and around 3,000 people in the US .

This is an integrated contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO ) in the BioPharma industry offering specialized drug substances processing.

The Manufacturing unit Operations are only for the drug substance (Up Stream) processing, compounding, bulk packaging, in sterile, clean room environment. These bulk products are then supplied to company plants elsewhere for final fill finish Packaging operations.

 

Group Info: Be part of the Engineering and Maintenance group with 44 technical people, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Automation .

 

N ote 1: The Automation system supported will be predominantly the Delta V + Delta V Batch by Emerson.

 

N ote 2: The client is willing to support TN 1 Visa for the right person, but not H1 B visa transfers.

 

N ote 3: This role is flexible for a wider level of experience - Level II (3-5 yrs) or higher Level III (6-8 yrs. with Annual Bonus)

 

Summary:

The Automation Engineer is responsible for improving workforce productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance/calibration resources, parts, materials, and equipment access.

This role includes installing automation machines, ensuring proper operation, designing and programming controllers, simulating, testing, and managing automation processes, as well as training staff and managing a team to meet safety and quality standards.

50% Project Engineering and Programming of Automation DCS – Delta V.

50% Plant Hands-on support as SME to Production, Process and Maintenance groups

 

Job Description:

  • Lead/participate in the design, integration, implementation, testing, commissioning, and evaluation of new computer-based automation systems.
  • Manage projects and resources related to automation.
  • Simulate and test automated machinery or processes.
  • Design, engineer, test, and troubleshoot control systems.
  • Interact with internal staff and shop floor personnel.
  • Maintain and enhance system documentation.
  • Interface with management, engineers, and teams.
  • Streamline operations for efficiency, cost savings, safety, and reliability.
  • Maintain technical project files.
  • Develop and manage automation capital projects.
  • Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in automation, process control, or engineering (Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical)
  • FDA/GMP - BioPharma industry experience.
  • 3+ years of automation engineering experience or higher (see Note 3 above)
  • 1+ year of experience programming automation DCS - Delta V / Delta V Batch.
  • Experience simulating and testing manufacturing automation processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining documentation for automation, commissioning and validation.
  • Experience training staff on new or changed processes or equipment. 

  Candidate Nice to Have:

  • Professional automation certification.
  • Experience with CMMS systems – Blue Mountain.
  • Some Automation Experience with PI Historian, Allen Bradley PLC, SCADA, BMS , etc.
  • Experience managing new Greenfield or Brownfield expansion projects
  • Sterile Liquid for Up Stream processing of BioPharma drug substance.
