Job Overview

The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for part time, Bell Attendants to join our team. At the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, we strive to deliver a memorable experience for our guests. Situated on the shores of scenic Lake Spenard, one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is the perfect starting point to explore the many wonders Alaska has to offer. The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel boasts 248 rooms and three outstanding food and beverage outlets.

The role of the Bell Attendant is to provide exceptional customer service to our guests when driving the van or assisting them with their luggage, greeting customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome, and remaining calm and attentive during heavy hotel activity and emergencies.

Typical Duties include:

  • Reports suspicious behavior or hotel patrons to hotel security personnel.
  • Retrieves guest's items from cars, buses, vans, and carts. Able to grasp, lift, carry and/or load luggage and packages 75 lbs. onto a bell cart to transport items throughout hotel to designated room. Navigate bell cart through public areas, guest room corridors and to elevators. Requires physical stamina to stand, lift, carry, and walk continuously for duration of shift (8 hours).
  • Ensures proper handling of guest luggage such as proper storage and tagging.
  • Reads and matches luggage tags, writes claim tickets and detaches portion to give to guest.
  • Organizes and stores luggage as necessary in a designated area.
  • Listens and responds to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice. Answers questions and offers assistance, providing accurate information regarding outlet hours, other hotel services, directions to local attractions or function rooms, car rentals, and hotel shuttle service availability, etc.
  • Reviews daily event sheets and notes group and VIP arrivals, meeting schedules and locations.
  • Familiarizes self with functions daily at the beginning of each shift.

Other duties of the Bell Attendant include:

  • Clean and polish carts and other equipment used in the department.
  • Take and pick up guests from various locations in Anchorage.

  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Previous guest service experience is preferred.
  • Possess effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • High School Diploma required.
