Job Description

Position Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Controller with strong construction accounting experience to oversee our accounting operations. This is a fully on-site position responsible for managing the accounts payable process, financial reporting, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have significant project accounting experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations with primary focus on accounts payable processes
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for multiple properties
  • Work closely with project managers on construction accounting and project reporting
  • Manage bank relationships and loan compliance
  • Supervise accounting staff and coordinate training needs
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and procedures
  • Handle month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Maintain financial controls and risk management procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Extensive construction accounting experience required
  • Prior supervisory experience managing accounting staff required
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis required
  • Project accounting experience required
  • Proficiency with property management software (Yardi preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience with CAM reconciliations and tenant billing
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification
  • Experience with implementing accounting systems
  • Background in commercial property management
  • Knowledge of tax requirements related to real estate

Location

This position is fully on-site at our Sacramento office. No remote work options are available.
