Job Description

AECOM is actively growing the East Region Environmental Planning & Permitting (EPP) practice and is seeking an Environmental Project Manager within the MidAtlantic EPP Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for team management and have experience overseeing environmental permitting and utility siting projects for energy and other private sector clients. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM EPP specialists across the US.

For this opportunity we will consider candidates in any of our MidAtlantic Regional offices including but not limited to the following: Baltimore MD; Germantown MD; Cincinnati OH; Arlington VA; Glen Allen VA; Norfolk VA; and District of Columbia.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Develop manage and administer all staff and projects carried out by those directly reporting to this position.
  • Manage and perform consulting projects to scope schedule and budget learning and applying AECOMs project management systems and software. The candidate will accelerate through AECOMs inhouse Project Management certification program within the first year of employment.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior and midlevel staff.
  • Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel.
  • Coordinate manage and direct project field and data collection efforts.
  • Develop manage and deliver business strategy and tactics highquality proposals interdisciplinary teams and documents and report deliverables.
  • Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on complex projects and through business development initiatives.
  • Proactively enforce a culture of producing highquality work and the importance of Heath & Safety within the team.
  • Provide technical support to the EPP Department and individual Project Managers and support interdisciplinary business development activiites.
  • Collaborate with other AECOM offices practices and business lines.

 

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering Biology Ecology Natural resources Wetlands management or an earth sciencerelated field 8 years of experience managing projects and teams to scope schedule and budget.
  • Valid Drivers License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Due to the nature of work US Citizenship if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in relevant field
  • 10 years industry experience preferably with energy and other private sector clients providing environmental assessment and permitting compliance support including FERC requirements
  • Existing mature and tested Client relationships with an ability to generate new work for the Team Office and Company
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations
  • Thorough working knowledge of CWA ESA NHPA NEPA and other federal state and local regulations.
  • Knowledge of FERC requirements and related experience with preparing FERC Section 7(c) resource reports and prefiling process environmental permitting NEPA relevant environmental regulations and processes and related environmental considerations desired.
  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery
  • Experience preparing proposals cost estimates schedules and change orders
  • PMP or other project management certification is a plus; candidate will be required to complete AECOM Project Management Certification.
  • Have led teams of professionals in executing wetland delineations threatened and endangered species studies environmental permitting support and other related studies/assessments/analyses.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects interdisciplinary teams and workload as well as interface successfully with Clients
  • High degree of selfmotivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment
  • Organizational management skills and ability to perform detailoriented work
  • Selfmotivated driven and hard working
  • Demonstrated ability to market and win work successfully and effectively
  • Excellent communication skills including both oral and written (writing sample required)
  • Occasional overnight travel required
  • Excellent and relevant references
