Position: Entry-Level Police Officer
The City of Salem Police Department is seeking outstanding candidates to join its team as Entry-Level Police Officers.
Salary and Incentives
Pay Scale:
Hourly Range: $37.61 - $49.44
Monthly Range: $6,519.07 - $8,569.60
Annual Range: $78,228.84 - $102,835.20
Additional Incentives:
Certifications, training, and college degree incentives: 2%-10%.
Extra duty and specialized assignments: 2.5%-5%.
Bilingual proficiency incentive: 5%.

Key Responsibilities
As a Salem Police Officer, your duties will include:
Patrolling assigned areas to enforce laws and ordinances.
Investigating citizen complaints, crime scenes, and accidents.
Writing detailed reports and preserving evidence.
Engaging with the community through meetings and educational outreach to enhance public safety.

Minimum Qualifications
Age: Must be at least 21 at the time of hire. Applicants aged 20 years and 6 months may apply.
Citizenship: U.S. citizen or eligible to attain citizenship within 18 months of hire.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Driver's License: Valid Oregon Class C license or equivalent.
Testing Requirements:
Pass the NTN Frontline National Test with scores of at least 70% in reading, 70% in writing, and 65% in video/media.
Pass the Oregon Physical Agility Test (ORPAT) with a time of 6:30 or less.
Out-of-state or military PAT results are accepted if they meet equivalent standards and are less than 12 months old.
Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug test (including marijuana), and psychological evaluation.
Must be able to work rotating 24-hour shifts, including holidays and weekends.
Selection Process
Application Submission: Complete the City of Salem application and attach NTN and ORPAT scores.
Testing:
Take the NTN Frontline National Test and ORPAT.
Submit valid results showing passing scores.
Interviews: Applicants with top scores will proceed to interviews and video assessments.
Conditional Offer: Finalists will undergo extensive background checks, medical and psychological evaluations, and drug testing.
