A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a freight broker – logistics , you'll be at the center of our logistics operation. Your day will start with reviewing shipments, engaging carriers, and analyzing market trends. You'll negotiate rates, solve logistical problems, and build strong relationships with customers and carriers. Each day will present a new and unique challenge in a dynamic environment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaboration —Work closely with clients and carriers to ensure deliveries are timely and cost-effective.
• Relationship Management — Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and team members to ensure freight coverage.
• Monitor and Update — Routinely monitor shipment movement and update the Transportation Management System (TMS) with accurate information.
• Negotiation — Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers balancing costs to maximize profitability.
• Analyze — Review and analyze carrier performance to ensure that shipments have on-time pickup/delivery and ensure safe movement.
• Conflict Resolution — Identify, understand, and resolve issues that occur with the carrier, customer, and freight during the shipment process

YOUR SKILLSET

• Communication —Excellent communication skills necessary to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals.
• Negotiation — Demonstrable experience with effective rate and contract negotiation.
• Time Management — Strong time management skills necessary to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
• Analysis — Effective analysis and comprehension of market trends and data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or a similar role. An equivalent amount of education and experience will be considered.
• Employment with Smokey Point Distributing is contingent upon the completion of the SPD employment process, which includes a background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field and at least two (2) years of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or a similar role. An equivalent amount of education and experience will be considered.

SALARY AND SCHEDULE

• Salary — $25.00 - $28.00 per hour, decided based on experience.
• Schedule —Full-time; On-Site; Monday to Friday; 07:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
