Position Summary: The Music Therapist (MT-BC) works as a member of the interdisciplinary team working with terminally ill patients and their families.  The MT-BC will provide music therapy services for assigned hospice patients and families, in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care. During an initial evaluation, MT-BC will assess the patient’s strengths and needs. MT-BC will develop and implement a care plan, evaluate outcomes and perform required paperwork and team communication in a timely manner. MT-BC will manage their own schedule for making patient visits; taking into consideration: changing patient needs, team needs and meetings.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Music Therapy from an accredited music therapy program
  • Current board certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in music therapy; 2+ years’ experience preferred
  • Experience in Hospice preferred
  • Must be a licensed driver with auto insurance and reliable daily transportation
  • Able to work independently and as a member of the interdisciplinary team
Duties:
  • Attend Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings, music therapy team meetings and all staff meetings
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide support to patient and families
  • Documents patient visits to reflect individualized care provided to patients in a timely manner
  • Provide music for staff support and special Grace events as needed
  • Provide educational in-services to the community and other professionals.
  • Utilize GarageBand computer software to create legacy gifts for patient families.

  • Displays an understanding of hospice patients’ rights.
