Job Description

Your role as Intern, Social Media: You will assist in planning, creating, and publishing social media content for all San Diego Padres social media accounts, including ancillary accounts such as Petco Park and Los Padres. All the responsibilities we will trust you with:

  • Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently striving to exceed all guest expectations
  • Assists with coverage of Padres home games across all Padres social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, X, and YouTube)
  • Updates graphics templates using Adobe Photoshop and edits video clips (game and non-game related) using Adobe Premiere or Slate
  • Plans, edits, and posts content (game and non-game related) with a focus on vertical video, under the guidance and approval of the social media team. This includes content for Facebook and Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
  • Assists in organizing the social media content calendar and copywriting
  • Assists with coverage of community events and marketing and partnership activations
  • Contributes to content creation and management of the Padres’ ancillary accounts, including Petco Park and Los Padres
  • Assists in monitoring all Padres social media accounts for opportunities to engage with the fan base
  • Collaborates with the social media and fan engagement team to identify potential influencers for the club to collaborate with
  • Researches and reports on social media trends to develop new concepts and best practices
  • Assists in tracking partnership posts for reporting purposes
  • Represents the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
  • Experience publishing content on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, X, and YouTube
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Premiere
  • Strong attention to detail, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative, self-motivated, and collaborative, with the ability to work independently
  • Strong personal management, time management, and organizational skills
You will be required to meet the following:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
  • Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a degree program in Marketing, Digital Media, Communications, or a closely related field
  • Able to assist with social media coverage all season, including Padres Spring Training in Peoria, Arizona, as well as the regular season and postseason (if applicable)
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as need
  • Knowledge of baseball and Padres team history is a plus
  • Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is a plus
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds
  • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check
Salary and additional compensation: Per the California pay transparency law, the hourly pay rate for this position is $20.54. Part time, non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Living Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.
