Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director of well-being, the Licensed Clinician will be responsible for the coordination, individual treatment sessions, plans, and assessments for their individual caseload. In addition, the Licensed Clinician will assist with assessing and coordinating care for individual clients, creating and updating treatment plans, assisting with crisis situations and de-escalation, providing one one-on-one case consultations and services focused on building resiliency, increasing mental health supports, and community among all youth served at Urban Peak. This position also will be responsible for assisting, implementing, and coordinating of groups, classes, and activities designed to address mental health and to ensure client data collection, and file maintenance. 

This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma-informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff. Outcomes for this position include reducing harm to self and others through addressing trauma, mental health, and substance misuse; increased ability to demonstrate healthy resilience for coping with challenges and stresses in life; and improving client’s mental health through behavioral group and individual settings. 

 

Who You Are:

  • A Master’s Degree in Counseling, social work, psychology or a related field AND a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth 
  • Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker OR LPC, LCSW OR LMFT 
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required 
  • Experience in facilitating and creating clinical groups and life skills classes with high-risk youth and/or special populations
  • Experience in providing trauma-informed care or willingness to adopt this approach is required 
  • Experience, competence, sensitivity, and ability to connect well and work effectively with the homeless youth community 
  • Skill in oral and written communications 
  • Skill in negotiating and mediating, particularly in sensitive situations as well as some skill in crisis intervention and de-escalation 
  • Able to communicate effectively with a diverse population 
  • Able to make independent judgement and sound decisions using available information while maintaining appropriate confidentiality 
  • Able to function work with collaborating agencies when necessary for programming 
  • Able to manage tasks and activities in an environment that sometimes includes conflict and chaos 
  • Able to be team-oriented and able to coordinate with various departments and staff 
  • Computer proficient and possess experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, teams, and Excel) 
  • Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak’s auto liability policy in order to conduct business on behalf of the agency and/or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle 
  • Ability to use second language in written and verbal communication desired (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL) 
  • Ability to pass both federal and state background checks and a pre-employment TB Screening

What You Will Do:

Clinical Duties

  • Provide clinically focused and evidence-based programming that supports positive mental health outcomes 
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and updating treatment plans for youth on caseload 
  • Assessment of youth’s needs using evidence-based assessments 
  • Assist with Medicaid billing for clinical services 
  • Facilitate and lead case coordination assessments and meetings between the clinical team and the client’s care team 
  • Provide crisis intervention and presence in milieus as necessary to support relationships with youth 
  • Work closely with other staff and agency programs to coordinate activities, providing clear and effective communication with other staff regarding clients 
  • Work directly with youth, as needed, to support their goals and assist them in increasing their overall well-being 
  • Provide appropriate emergency interventions, as needed 
  • Provide support to other programs in emergency situations 
  • Provide clinical individual sessions in a low-barrier setting with harm reduction principles by providing services and programming to meet clients where they are at 
  • Help youth develop social skills, interests, and leisure time activities to provide a sense of personal worth and increase well-being by increasing their understanding and use of coping skills 

General Job Duties:

  • Actively represent Urban Peak in the community to persons interested in the issue of homelessness for education, funding, and advocacy purposes 
  • Attends all required staff meetings and training
  • Accompanies youth on planned therapeutic group outings (e.g. recreational activities) 
  • Educates and trains volunteers and interns in all aspects of working with youth who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness when applicable 
  • Actively engage and recruit youth in all Urban Peak programming 
  • Accountable for all defined outcomes, both individually and team level by supporting data collection through the Urban Peak database 
  • Works with the Support Services Supervisor on securing and tracking funding for incentives

  • Salary : $34.62 to $34.62 
  • Shift: Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 7 pm
  • This shift may include day, evening, and weekend hours in an assigned schedule, as well as mandatory coverage for several holiday shifts annually.
  • Requires some flexibility to attend meetings and cover shifts as needed, maybe on-call for client emergencies and serving as on-call staff on a rotating basis throughout the year.

Who We Are:

Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.

Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and positive youth development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15 through 20, a daytime drop-in center, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals, and more.
