Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Logistics Coordinator to build and manage a robust logistics and trade compliance program. This role will be responsible for developing standardized procedures to ensure full compliance with U.S. and Canadian regulatory requirements, as well as internal trade policies. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across operations and logistics teams to ensure consistent adherence to trade regulations and optimize international logistics operations.

 

 

Job Description

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce U.S. and Canadian trade compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on U.S. and Canadian export/import controls and internal policies for relevant personnel.
  • Support Operations and Logistics Managers in implementing effective import/export controls.
  • Classify goods using correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN).
  • Maintain updated master HTS and ECCN lists for all U.S. and Canadian sites.
  • Monitor changes in relevant U.S. and Canadian trade compliance regulations.
  • Ensure proper recordkeeping for all import/export activities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for trade-related correspondence with U.S. and Canadian Customs and coordinate with corporate trade compliance teams.
  • Perform post-audits on import/export documentation, initiate corrections when necessary.
  • Analyze customs and broker system data to monitor compliance risk.
  • Manage documentation and processes related to duty mitigation programs (e.g., duty drawback).
  • Arrange and track international shipments (air, ocean, rail, trucking).
  • Select freight carriers and manage shipment bookings.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and customs documentation.
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, etc.).
  • Provide logistics support to engineering, sales, and field service teams.
  • Resolve shipment issues such as delays, damages, or customs holds.
  • Provide real-time shipment updates to internal teams and external customers.
  • Prepare performance and compliance reports for logistics operations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and optimize logistics processes.

 

Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of HTS and ECCN classifications.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian trade regulations.
  • Experience with international shipment logistics and customs procedures.
  • Strong planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, both independently and in a team environment.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (preferred in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field).
  • 3–5 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or customs brokerage.
  • OR: 2-year certificate in trade or logistics management with equivalent experience.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Standard office environment with regular use of office equipment.
  • May be required to sit, stand, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Standard 40-hour work week.
  • Occasional travel within the U.S. (less than 10%) for training or meetings.
  • Shift: 9am - 5pm
  • Hybrid schedule: 2 days at office
