Manager, Battery Cell Modeling to lead the cell modeling development and cell integration for Rivian EV products.
This position will be responsible for leading cell modeling team to define technical roadmap, timing, and deliverables.
In addition, this Sr.
manager will lead the team to develop battery performance models, life, data driven and physics-based model for cell and pack.ResponsibilitiesLead cell modeling team to define technical roadmap, timing, and deliverablesLead the team to develop battery performance models, life, data driven and physics-based model for cell and packLead the team to develop innovative techniques to improve accuracy of the models at extreme usage scenariosWork closely with cross functional teams to drive the decision for cell selection (chemistry and design) and system design based on the modeling and test resultsDefine pathways to improve cell/pack design with enhanced performance and lifetime; develop intellectual property for Rivian’s battery cell technologyGuide experiments to develop optimal test procedures to improve model calibration process and the model accuracyQualificationsMust have:PhD degree in chemistry/chemical engineering/materials science with 5+ years of experience with cell modeling3+ years’ experience in management.
Strong record of leadershipExperience in modeling the cell and pack performanceExperience in various methods to develop cell performance models including equivalent circuit models and reduced order modelsUnderstanding about electrochemistry and thermal of lithium-ion cells and packUnderstanding about cell’s components and their interactions inside the cellUnderstanding about the relationship between pack design with performance and lifetimeFamiliarity with various battery testing proceduresStrong optimization skills and numerical skillsPassion for batteries in electric vehicle applications: limitations, considerations, and trendsExperience in Python, MATLAB/SimulinkProblem solving skillsExcellent communication skillPreferred:Experience in SOC, SOH, SOP prediction is a plusExperience with Filtering techniques is a plusExperience with COMSOL is a plusModeling experience in automotive applications is a plusFamiliarity with the modeling battery behavior for automotive drive cyclesPay DisclosureSalary Range for California Based Candidates: $176,200.00 - $220,300.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26.
