Duties

Responsibilities 

• Plans, implements, and evaluates the Bible and developmental curriculum in accordance with the mission, purpose, and philosophy of TSL Roots under the supervision of the Director
• Serves as a liaison with families to ensure smooth transition between home and TSL Roots
• Helps children transition from classroom to classroom as needed 
• Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, standards, and safety procedures
• Develops and follows a basic schedule providing for the spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of children
• Attempts to meet the needs of each child to the best of their ability 
• Maintains frequent communications to the parents about a child?s progress and classroom events through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences according to TSL Roots policies
• Maintains a high level of cleanliness and sanitation in room
• Maintains accurate records, forms and files

Requirements

To follow state licensing guidelines, we require that all lead teachers: 

• Must be 18 years of age
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Undergo and pass a background check. 
• Undergo and pass a pre-employment physical exam and tuberculosis (TB) skin test within 6 months prior to beginning employment 
• Earn and biennially maintain their certification in CPR, AED, and first aid prior to or within 90 days after beginning employment 
• Complete all state-required child care training prior to or within 90 days after beginning employment
