The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position to work on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The current CMS group at CMU consists of Professors John Alison and Manfred Paulini.
We expect the successful applicant to significantly contribute to CMS data analyses using the Higgs boson and models of supersymmetry to search for physics beyond the standard model. Applications from candidates with interests in exploring machine learning in particle physics are especially welcome. We are also involved in the operation of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter.
A Ph.D. in experimental high energy physics at the time of appointment is required. The position is based at CMU. The appointment is initially for one year and renewable annually, subject to mutual satisfaction.
Applications, including a curriculum vitae, publication list and a statement of research interests should be submitted to this Interfolio site. In addition, candidates should arrange for at least one letter of recommendation to also be uploaded to this Interfolio website. The position is available as soon as possible but remains open until filled. For questions about the position, please contact Manfred Paulini at paulini@cmu.edu.
