Job Description

Social Media Manager Location Denver, CO (Central Business District area) :

Objective

The Social Media Manager reports to the Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer in the Marketing department. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining social media organic and promotional campaigns in support of overall departmental promotional efforts, developing and publishing content, platform management, analytics, and best practices for all Visit Denver social media channels. Channels include, but are not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn, which are used to support local, regional, national and international integrated tourism marketing campaigns to drive more interest in visitors and meetings in the Mile High City. You will work in an exciting and fun team environment within the marketing department.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the development, creation and distribution of all Bureau social media content, including daily management or oversight of all social media channels, writing posts, creating or sourcing new visual content, supervising other contributors and agencies and developing new programs.
  • Responsible for execution of the Bureau's social media advertising programs across Facebook, Instagram and other platforms as necessary. Duties include agency management, budgeting, campaign management, evaluation of ad performance against objectives, and reporting.
  • Develops and maintains Denver's social media “voice,” informed by brand research and tailored to individual social media channels.
  • Supports paid social media products offered by Visit Denver to its partners (co-op advertising).
  • Manages social media contests including coordination of prizes and winner fulfillment.
  • Analyzes post- and channel-level data, offers insights into campaign performance and makes effective optimizations on creative, ad copy, and/or website traffic initiatives.
  • Participates in monthly editorial meetings to integrate content ideas & execution into social media campaigns.
  • Proofreads posts for spelling and grammar, making appropriate changes. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final posts as well as ensuring inclusion of Bureau partners and key marketing programs as directed.
  • Stays up to date with best practices for social media platforms and emerging media including popular post types, content styles, paid advertising options, privacy practices, changes in platform technology, etc.
  • Prepares and distributes various internal and external reports within established deadlines as directed.
  • Attends Bureau special events, including partner after-hours, travel writer receptions and other non-bureau organized functions as required, including media previews, press conferences, influencer visits, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION

Four-year degree in a relevant field of study. Relevant fields of study include New Media, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing and/or Hospitality.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience managing content across all major social media platforms with emphasis on the Bureau channels listed above, preferably for a high-volume organization, as well as experience for managing paid social media advertising efforts on these channels, including ad types, ad management, reporting systems and campaign evaluations.

Competencies

  • Strong, proven writing skills across all mediums with an emphasis on social media content.
  • Strong working knowledge of public-facing and back-end systems (post management, advertising, insights/analytics) associated with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube.
  • Working understanding of Google Analytics preferred.
  • Strong technology application skills; Microsoft365, SharePoint, Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access), MS Outlook and web browser skills.
  • Basic understanding of AI, have the skillset and ability to learn AI systems.
  • Excellent command of the English language, oral and written.
  • Graphic design (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and/or web/social design programs).
  • Should be familiar with video editing and social media video creation, as well as all platforms' video capabilities.
  • Efficient and proven organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities simultaneously while meeting stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, good judgment and capable of communicating in a professional manner with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Resourceful problem solving and follow up skills.
  • Proactive; solid analytical skills; detail-oriented.
  • Reliable, dependable, flexible and responsive; must be available to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Attending industry conferences as requested.
  • Minimal travel may be necessary.

SALARY

$68,000-$76,000 annually

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
