Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,000+ satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
The OTA-Agent team is responsible for applying software updates to the satellite. These updates must be applied quickly and securely. This team is looking for a highly technical manager that can help this team achieve its mission goals.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

* Work with peer teams and customers to design new features for the Over-the-Air updates to satellites.
* Build the roadmap and drive key feature development. Review and signoff on technical designs.
* Communiate effectively with Senior Leaders and Stakeholders.
* Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.
* Collaborate with your fellow team members to deliver on your roadmap commitments.
A day in the life
This is a Software Development Manager role in the Kuiper Bus organization. You own the software responsible for applying software updates to a Satellite. This is a critical function that requires frequent updates to stakeholders and senior leaders. You will work closely with your teams to track development efforts against roadmap commitments, provide status updates to Senior Leadership, Hire and develop your team, and begin work on a new initiative.
About the team
The OTA-Agent team owns the embedded software that safely and quickly updates Satellite systems safely and securely. This is a small and close-knit team that owns one of the more critical functions of the satellite. In spite of that, the team is smart, works hard, and constantly delivers software of the highest quality.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
