Qualifications for Special Education Due Process Secretary:

  • High school education with secretarial experience.
  • Knowledge of special education process.
  • Experience in use of PC and office machines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proper etiquette and techniques in dealing with the public, staff and students.
  • Ability to handle pressure and adapt to change.
  • Knowledge about a variety of software: Microsoft Office, SpEd Forms, Infinite Campus, Google Docs.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.


Responsibilitie s for Special Education Due Process Secretary:

  • Follow defined District 196 child study procedures according to policy, regulation, law and good practice.
  • Coordinate child study schedules for in-house and staffing meetings.
  • Issue timely child study announcements of signatures and due dates.
  • Prepare necessary child study correspondence for mailing.
  • Maintain child study follow-up log.
  • Maintain systematic file of child study records on individual students.
  • Classify, sort and file child study data.
  • Maintain child study log of access according to Regulation 505.1R.
  • Maintain log of students going through child study.
  • Inform child study coordinator of caseload changes through the use of form DB-1
  • Coordinate child study statistics.
  • Maintain an updated child study handbook.
  • Sort and distribute child study mail.
  • Operate computer, copy machine and other hardware and software as directed.
  • Answer telephones for special education staff.
  • Perform other child study related duties as assigned by department chair and/or principal.


Qualifications for 10 Month Elementary Secretary :

  • High school graduate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with public, staff and students.
  • Ability to manage/prioritize/complete work assignments from multiple sources in a timely fashion.
  • Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to deal with confidential material.
  • Excellent phone communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solver
  • Team oriented.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel & Campus preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.
Responsibilities for 10 Month Elementary Secretary :

  • Responsible for answering telephones and parent/student contact.
  • Responsible for processing student attendance and census information.
  • General secretarial duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation / Benefits:
RAVE Clerical Association – Wage Group IV : $21.03 - $23.62 Hourly - According to contractual agreement (based on 2024-25 contract)
