AECOM presents an outstanding career opportunity for a  Transportation Engineering Manager  specializing in traffic engineering, safety and travel demand forecasting studies. By joining our multidisciplinary statewide traffic team, you will play a crucial role in fostering client relationships and spearheading efforts to secure traffic engineering projects. Our team of exceptional and highly skilled professionals collaborates with both local and national clients, delivering innovative and comprehensive solutions for diverse transportation needs across all modes of travel. The position is available as a hybrid work option located in Orlando or Tampa, Florida. 

Key projects and responsibilities span a diverse array of traffic engineering services, including:

  • Interstate access requests
  • Travel demand forecasting
  • Traffic projections
  • Traffic impact studies
  • Traffic analysis and microsimulation
  • Traffic safety analysis/studies
  • Conceptual planning and design
  • Other transportation-related studies

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other Florida AECOM discipline leads developing and executing business development activities such as project opportunities, marketing clients, conducting conference technical presentations, assisting with proposal preparation and recruiting efforts.
  • Strategic responsibilities identifying, pursuing and winning traffic engineering projects.
  • Leads junior engineers in the execution of traffic engineering and travel demand forecasting projects, And provides day-to-day direct mentoring and guidance to junior engineers in the execution of their tasks.
  • Oversees all aspects of traffic engineering studies including data collection, macrosimulation/microsimulation model development and calibration (SimTraffic, Vissim, CUBE, VISUM, TransCAD) or other traffic software such as Synchro, HCS, Vistro, or Sidra, traffic forecasting, and analysis of alternatives.
  • Prepare transportation safety and Vision Zero analysis using HCM, FDOT, FHWA and municipal standards and methodologies
  • Presents technical findings to internal project teams, clients, and the public.
  • Coordinates workload projections for direct reports and coordinates with other discipline leads
  • Assists direct reports in setting and accomplishing goals that advance their professional development.
  • Develops of assists project managers in the development of scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Follows AECOM and client processes in performing quality control tasks of other engineers’ work.

Qualifications



Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Eight years of experience in traffic engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Florida and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
  • Over 15 years of experience in the traffic engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with local municipal and county government, as well as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) traffic engineering departments, procedures, and upcoming contracts.
  • Proficiency in traffic simulation software such as VISSIM, Synchro, Sidra, and HCS.
  • Proven track record in developing client relationships and leading project pursuits.
