About the Opportunity

We are seeking an outstanding individual as a Food Safety Specialist for a leadership role on our Food Safety, Regulatory and Social Compliance team. This position ensures the assessment of risk and implementation of Good Agricultural and Good Harvesting Practices amongst our growing and harvesting operations and ensures that packing houses and distribution centers follow Good Manufacturing Practices in the associated region. The position also supports organic and social compliance programs. This Food Safety Specialist works closely with Driscoll’s Food Safety Team, Growers, Regional Production teams, and Cooler personnel and other relevant areas within the organization such as distribution, procurement and IS to execute Driscoll’s Food Safety and Social compliance Program.

Responsibilities

•    Food Safety Implementation, support hygiene and operational food safety programs through training, follow-up visits, and guidance aligned with Food Safety Manuals 
•    Regulatory Support, assist in compliance activities related to organic integrity, social responsibility, and regulatory requirements 
•    Production Collaboration, work with District Production teams to compile ranch lists, track new sites, and resolve grower-related concerns
•    Pesticide Use & Sampling, manage pesticide use reports and oversee sampling programs (microbiological and residue) to meet internal and external standards 
•    Training & Communication, deliver food safety training programs for growers, facilities, and internal staff; clearly communicate policies and expectations
•    Recordkeeping & Documentation, maintain accurate and compliant food safety records, audit certificates, and facility data
•    Representation & Ethics, represent Food Safety and Integrity on the District team; upholds Driscoll’s values in all interactions with growers, auditors, and agencies

Candidate Profile

•    2–4 years’ experience in agriculture, preferably with a focus on food safety, microbiology, GAPs, and GMPs 
•    General understanding of food safety and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) 
•    Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and proactive 
•    Demonstrated leadership and the ability to work collaboratively across teams 
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with statistical software and data management 
•    Quick learner with a forward-thinking mindset 
•    Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
•    Valid driver’s license; eligible for company vehicle insurance coverage 
•    Willingness to travel as required

Compensation & Benefits:

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted.  The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

Salary Range estimated for the Food Safety Regulatory Specialist: $70,000 to $90,000 USD.
