Job Overview:

The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for providing a wide range of HR support for the Shooters Waterfront property while focusing on the strategic goals and objectives of the business within the Human Resources Scope. The role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, training and development, performance management, and diversity, HRIS upkeeping, benefits, and compliance management. This role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will work closely with the Controller and Director of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned) 

  • Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including policy and procedures, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training, and development, records management, safety and health, risk management (workers comp), succession planning, employee relations and retention, EEO compliance, and labor relations
  • Aligns with management and department leaders and provides dedicated HR support in key functions (including recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, training, and diversity.)
  • Ensure proper onboarding of new team members, completion of their New Hire checklists, and verifies I-9 documentation
  • Enhances the overall employee experience by implementing new retention strategies
  • Developing new hire experience by assisting with the recruitment and interview process. Tracking the status of candidates in HRIS and proper follow-up at the end of the recruiting process.
  • Coach and Mentor leaders while providing support to ensure effective team member relations
  • Serves as a resource for performance management with hourly and salaried team members.
  • Provides coaching opportunities to managers and team members when handling employee relation matters and disciplinary procedures with the highest standards of professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential matters. This includes terminations and exit interviews
  • Coordinate and conduct new hire orientation for all new team members
  • Facilitates and conducts training sessions in all HR areas including Training and Development, Recruiting events, Diversity and Inclusion, and Workplace Safety.
  • Oversees, monitors, and administers all compliance when it comes to Company Policies, procedures, and standards in local, state, and federal law as related
  • Practice safety standards and report any unsafe conditions
  • Assist with planning and facilitating benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, leaves of absence, and accommodations processes 
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
  • Monitors and enforces all compliance when it comes to Company Policies, procedures, and standards in local, state, and federal law as related
  • Review and maintain payroll, timesheets, and benefit within the HRIS system
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits, or other HR programs and reports
  • Manage and organize associate events, including diversity & inclusion initiatives, newsletters, birthday and anniversary announcements and celebrations, quarterly celebrations and recognitions, company picnics, and end-of-year celebrations.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field is a plus and preferred
  • SHRM or PHR certification is a plus and preferred
  • Previous hotel or restaurant human resources experience is a plus and preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years as an HR Generalist, supervision experience is a plus and preferred
  • Knowledge of employment laws, and human resources best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate effective leadership
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Well-developed analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Being bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish) is a plus and preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; previous experience using HRIS or ATS systems 
  • TripleSeat CRM and Toast POS platform experience is a plus and preferred
  • Reliable, consistent work attendance is a requirement and essential function of this position
