Brief Position Description:

The Mining Engineer will provide daily oversight and technical support to ensure Quarry production requirements are met, in the short and long term, efficiently and safely, and within MSHA requirements.

 

Nature and Scope:

  • Responsible for effective collection and recording of daily mining records to ensure multiple production shifts and maintenance activities are working synergistically towards common Quarry mining and maintenance objectives.
  • Responsible for short term and long term mine planning.
  • Responsible for mine control and monthly mapping.
  • Responsible for stripping plans, volumes and contracts.
  • Responsible for mine production tracking, reporting, planning, measurement, and control.
  • Support Production Manager in departmental activities including site management, material cleanup, raw material & fuel inventory.

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Ensure the Quarry operates efficiently and synergistically.
  • Develop annual budget (financial & production), maintain and update forecast.
  • Maintain a short and long term mine plan, matching mine production to the plan.
  • Communicating the changing conditions to relevant departments regarding material quality.
  • Oversee mine survey activities and update mine maps as required.
  • Reconcile Quarry tonnage estimates from mine mapping with production reports.
  • Perform routine inspections of mine as required by MSHA.
  • Optimize the mining operation in terms of material, manpower, fuel, work hours and equipment availability.
  • Optimize reliability and maintenance through technical solutions by supporting studies and implementing projects.
  • Be proficient in the CMMS system to identify the necessary work required of other departments to support mining operations, including the scheduling process.
  • Supervise the Quarry Equipment Operator crew, as well as any contractors assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Mining, Geology or other Engineering

 

Area of experience

  • 3-6 years.
  • Supervisory & Mining Engineering.
