Job Description

MyCHN is a nonprofit organization providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy services to communities in the South Houston and Gulf Coast area. We were founded in 2008 with one provider, three exam rooms and a big dream. Today, we have over 100 providers and more than 15 locations. Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician works closely with the Pharmacist to prepare and distribute medicines to patients, screen orders for accuracy and completeness, use technology to help maintain accurate patient records, ensure the safety and security of merchandise, and regulations governing the sale of pharmaceuticals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Enter patient’s information into computer accurately and efficiently
  • Counting, measuring, and preparation of specified product using company best practices
  • Follow the appropriate eligibility checks in OpenFQ
  • Maintain records on prescription volume and sales
  • Perform posting audits
  • Inputs accuracy scanner data weekly
  • Tender customer transactions in a quick and efficient manner
  • Promote for sale to our customers any current charitable promotions
  • Understand an follow the company guidelines on tendering electronic fund transactions, such as Credit/Debit Cards, EBT, and Gift Cards, as well as cash and check transactions
  • Understand and adhere to guidelines on accepting and tendering vendor coupons, company limits on cash shortages, and
  • shrink guidelines
  • Understand the operation of the cash register and follow all cashier handling policies to prevent loss
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold throughout the store
  • Display a positive attitude
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
  • Practice preventative maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or manager of any items in need of repair
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents
  • Assist Pharmacist in all responsibilities except those that require a judgment call by a pharmacist
  • Report all safety risks or issues, illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity with office equipment: computer keyboarding, calculator, photocopier, and faxes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels
  • Strong team player with a focus on collaboration
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to hand multiple projects simultaneously
  • Consumer advocate for quality health care and services

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Bilingual, ability in Spanish preferred

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Pharmacy board license; pharmacy technician certificate
  • Previous comparable experience of 1 year
