The Amarillo Area Foundation (AAF) seeks a visionary, community-centered leader to serve as its next President & Chief Executive Officer—a rare opportunity to lead a mission-driven organization through its next era of impact, innovation, and growth. As the sole community foundation serving the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle, AAF plays a pivotal role in strengthening education, expanding healthcare access, and fostering economic opportunity.
The President & CEO will advance AAF's mission to improve quality of life across the Texas Panhandle by stewarding more than $300 million in philanthropic assets, cultivating strong community partnerships, and overseeing grantmaking and initiatives that drive long-term, equitable change. This leader will also support a dedicated staff committed to inclusive, community-centered philanthropy.
Founded in 1957 to address regional healthcare needs, AAF has grown into the Panhandle's only community foundation, now serving more than 400,000 residents. The Foundation manages over 400 funds, including more than 75 donor-advised funds, and has awarded more than 5,300 grants across education, health, and economic development. Trusted throughout the region, AAF delivers place-based philanthropy that responds to local needs while advancing shared, long-term goals.
The incoming President & CEO will lead a dedicated team committed to the Panhandle's diverse communities and will collaborate closely with an experienced, engaged board of directors. Together, this leadership group brings deep expertise in philanthropy, strategic planning, and community engagement to drive meaningful regional impact.
In close partnership with the Board of Directors, the President & CEO will refine strategic direction, build regional trust and visibility, and ensure operational excellence and mission alignment. This is a unique opportunity to lead one of Texas's most respected regional foundations and help shape its future.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned, strategic executive with a strong understanding of community philanthropy and proven financial and operational acumen. They will demonstrate emotional intelligence, collaborative leadership, and cultural awareness—bringing passion for the Texas Panhandle, its people, and its future. Success will require balancing external engagement with internal alignment and building trust across AAF's diverse footprint.
This is a full-time, in-person role based in Amarillo, Texas. The President & CEO will maintain a visible presence across the region, regularly engaging with donors, nonprofit leaders, public officials, and community partners.
