The Mewbourne School of Petroleum & Geological Engineering (MPGE) in the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy at the University of Oklahoma is actively seeking an experienced professional with expertise in stimulation, well completions, or related fields to join our team as a teaching professor at the associate level. This non-tenure track position, with a renewable term contract, is slated to begin in January 2025. The appointed candidate will have a significant role in shaping the future of the energy sector by providing practical, real-world knowledge and essential hands-on skills to aspiring engineers. At MPGE, we are at the forefront of addressing the challenges and seizing the opportunities presented by the evolving energy landscape. Our academic programs are designed to meet the growing needs for education and research in unconventional and conventional oil and gas and emerging energy fields, including the following: geothermal, hydrogen, energy storage, and CO2 capture and sequestration.

MPGE is one of the leading petroleum and geological engineering schools in the U.S. Current research activities of our faculty are highly interdisciplinary and include the following: reservoir characterization and management, petrophysics, organic-rich shales, geothermal energy production, hydrogen production and storage, CO2 sequestration, geomechanics, well stimulation, data assimilation, machine learning, drilling fluids, formation damage, enhanced oil recovery, reservoir engineering, well construction technologies and completions. The school has state-of-the-art teaching, research lab facilities, and research centers. MPGE hosts the Integrated Core Characterization Center, which is widely considered to be one of the best petrophysics and rock physics laboratories in the industry and academia.

MPGE offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Geological Engineering, a BS degree in GeoEnergy Engineering, and an MS in Natural Gas Engineering and Management. There are currently thirteen full-time faculty, two part-time, and five adjunct faculty, with a student enrollment of 120 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The school maintains an excellent relationship with the industry and has strong alumni support.

*Qualifications:*
MPGE is seeking a candidate to join our faculty as a ranked renewable term teaching professor of petroleum engineering practice preferably in the field of well completions and stimulation, including unconventional oil and gas development, and how to address environmental, social, and governance issues. This role will be appealing to someone who can drive academic excellence, integrate novel instructional methods, and foster student success.
Responsibilities for this position include the following: developing and instructing undergraduate and graduate courses related to well completions and associated fields, supervising student projects and research initiatives, and offering valuable industry insights to enrich student learning experiences and capstone projects. This position will provide professional career advice and lead our ABET accreditation and continuous improvement process for Petroleum Engineering and GeoEnergy Engineering. The role also involves collaborating with industry partners to ensure our curriculum remains relevant and forward-thinking, actively participating in departmental outreach. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to align their objectives and contributions with the strategic goals outlined in the University of Oklahoma's Lead on Strategic Plan.
We are looking for an educator with a Ph.D. in Petroleum or Geological Engineering or a related discipline to enhance our faculty. We are specifically looking for an individual with a track record of excellence and at least ten years of industry experience. The candidate must demonstrate a strong capability to teach and mentor students effectively and exhibit exemplary communication skills.
